What you'll need:
- Macrame cord or cotton twine (Home Depot: $2.57)
Cut 22 pieces of 6' string.
Using the Reverse Larkshead Knot, tie one piece of string on either side of the stick and hang it on something sturdy.

Attach the remaining 20 strings to the stick using the Reverse Larkshead Knot. You should have 40 strings when you're done.
Square knot the first row.
Continue to square knot the next five rows.
Split the strings down to the middle.
Take the 20th string in your current row, and line it up to the left. Diagonal half hitch in this direction until you have reached the end of the row.
Take the 19th string and repeat step six in the opposite direction.
For the smaller diamond, start an inch and a half below the top diamond. Take the middle two strings and diagonal half hitch 10 strings to the left and 10 to the right.
Face the strings in the opposite direction. Diagonal half hitch until they meet in the middle. Do not tie together.
Repeat step nine starting from the outer two strings.
Once your diamonds are finished, square knot five more rows.
After you're finished with the fifth row, taper off the edges. To do this, decrease the amount of Square Knots by one for each row. Repeat for nine rows.
On the last row, you should have one Square Knot left. Leave the leftover string hanging for a nice fringe.
